The roll cage goes on with X tacked on to keep the shape, top bar is also temporary.
1st March
Steve measuring the min 18" between side panel uprights.

1st side panel clamped on but it was slightly tapered, leaving a 5 mm gap between side bar and panel. Bugger!! Take it off...start again....Zzzzzzzz.

Well, if we can't do the side panels we'll stick the roof on the rollcage instead. 8th March Roll cage nearly complete minus front and rear cross members which didn't arrive with the rest of the stuff. 8th March

Our new mechanic inspects the progress. 13th March Rear and front crossbars and downbar in now. I'll tell you their proper names when I get to know. 27th March
Cab frame complete. Three new bits went on tonight for the floor base plate. 27th March Engine undercarriage now welded up along with engine cage downtubes. 24th June
Trying out the cab for size. 24th June. The down bars were cut out and rewelded because there was insufficient room for the radiator. See photo on right. Shocker mountings and repositioned down bars. Notice the higher uprights to allow room for radiator.

On goes the front bumper Trying the front aerofoil for size.
We couldn't get to the car because some giant castings were in the way, so Ian cracked on prefabricating the nerf rail on the assembly line. There it is, the first nerf rail. Ian also made up a back bumper. Next week after the outside is done, we will be welding these ont the car. It will look good.

It is beginning to look like a stockcar chassis. We have a gearbox, suspension and loads of other bits so watch this space over the next couple of months
